Call for abstracts
We are pleased to invite abstract submissions for oral presentations and scientific posters, at the Luminesce Alliance 2026 Conference: Partnerships in Action: Advancing Children’s Health through Research, Families and Industry Collaboration on 4 and 5 November 2026 at UNSW Sydney.
Abstracts from students and Early Career Researchers are strongly encouraged.

Presentation Types
There are three presentation formats:
- Concurrent Oral Presentation Session: oral presentation (10 minutes plus 5-minute question time)
- Rapid Fire Oral Presentation: brief oral presentation (5 minutes)
- Poster Presentation: hard copy posters will be on display with authors in attendance at a specified day/time to discuss their research with interested delegates.

- You may nominate your preferred format.
- As spaces for oral presentations are limited, abstracts not selected for oral presentations may be offered a rapid fire presentation or poster presentation.
- Speaker guidelines will be provided closer to the conference date.
Submission Guidelines
All submissions for oral or poster presentations must be submitted by Sunday 2 August 2026 at midnight AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time). To submit your abstract, please click on the submit an abstract button on this page and follow the directions in the online abstract submission portal.

What is an abstract?
An abstract is a concise, standalone statement briefly summarising the essential information of a study, encompassing its purpose, methods, results, and conclusions. A well-crafted abstract serves to showcase your project, contribute to practice or education, and foster connections with fellow researchers.
How many abstracts can I submit?
Each first author may submit up to two abstracts, but the same research cannot be submitted twice, even under a different topic/category or with a different title.
Can I submit an abstract by email?
No. Abstracts can be submitted only via the online abstract submission portal. Any abstract sent by email will not be accepted and automatically returned to the sender.
Who can submit an abstract?
Abstracts will only be accepted from the first author or a designated corresponding author of the submitted abstract who has registered and agrees to attend, upon selection, the Luminesce Alliance 2026 Conference. If you fail to register to attend the conference, the selected abstract will be withdrawn.
Who reviews the abstracts?
Submitted abstracts will be blind-reviewed and selected by the Scientific Committee.
How will your abstract be assessed?
The following criteria will be used when assessing the abstract:
- Importance of the topic
- Is the topic original/important/relevant to conference themes?
- Are the aims of the study clearly described?
- Design and methods
- Is the study design appropriate for the research aim(s), hypothesis(es) and question(s)?
- Are the methods clearly described?
- What is the overall quality of the study methods (utilised or proposed)?
- Findings
- Are the key findings clearly described?
- How confident is the reviewer in the strength/trustworthiness of the findings and/or conclusions/discussion presented?
For work in progress, reviewers will assess the quality of the conclusions/discussion taking into account interim findings/conclusions.
- Implications (significance)
- How important are the research findings?
- How and to what extent are the findings likely to influence clinical or research practice, education or policy?
The Scientific Review Committee will not accept abstracts about commercial promotion of a proprietary product.
How many words should my abstract contain?
There is a maximum of 300 words excluding tables and pictures. The 300-word limit excludes the title and authors.
Are tables and pictures permitted in the asbtract submission?
No.
Are there other general submission requirements?
Writing must be clear, concise, and grammatically correct. Abstracts and posters may not contain any type of advertising.
Can I submit an abstract that has been previously presented or published?
Only if there are considerable changes (e.g. new data). This needs to be validated by the author.
When will I hear whether my abstract was accepted or rejected?
Submitting authors will receive notification of the selection outcome via e-mail by Friday 11 September 2026.
Will all co-authors or third parties be notified?
No. Only the submitting author will be notified. It is up to the submitting author to notify the presenting author/co-authors.
If my abstract is accepted what happens?
You will receive notification regarding the acceptance of your abstract for one of the following presentation types at the Luminesce Alliance 2024 Conference:
- Concurrent Oral Presentation Session: oral presentation (10 minutes plus 5-minute question time)
- Rapid Fire Oral Presentation: 5-minute brief oral presentation
- Poster Presentation
If selected, you must register and pay for the conference to present your work either face-to-face at an assigned time for oral presentations or to discuss your research during specific day/time slots for hard copy posters. This also applies to corresponding authors wishing to attend the conference. The registration fee is non-refundable in case of non-attendance.
Are all the authors eligible for the reduced registration rate?
There is no special registration rate for abstract authors. However early bird prices will be extended to allow abstract authors to access the early bird rates. Students are offered a reduced registration rate.
Can I change the assigned Presenter?
The presenting author can be changed, please send an email to conference@aacb.asn.au with the abstract title/paper number, advising the change. The presenter must be part of the submitted authors’ list and be able to present and discuss all aspects of the research.
What if the assigned presenter cannot attend the oral presentations?
Should a presenting author be absent without notice during the oral presentation sessions where the abstract is scheduled to be presented, the presentation will be cancelled.
What do you mean by assigning and transferring rights and copyright to the Luminesce Alliance?
The content belongs to the author(s) but if the abstract is accepted, the submitter agrees on behalf of all co-authors to give Luminesce Alliance the right to reproduce and distribute the work submitted.
I need to withdraw my abstract. How should I proceed?
The submitting author can withdraw by emailing conference@aacb.asn.au with the abstract title/paper number, with the subject line: ‘Abstract withdrawal’ advising that they wish to withdraw.
Where and when will my abstract be published?
All accepted abstracts will be available on the Luminesce Alliance 2026 Conference website from October to November 2026.
Where do I find the information on the presentation format for my oral and poster?
Detailed information related to your abstract presentation will be provided by email as part of your advice on the results of the selection process.
Who is my audience?
Meeting delegates include scientists, clinicians, researchers, trainees, government, and other health representatives.
Can I change/edit my abstract?
Prior to the abstract submission deadline Sunday 2 August 2026, you may edit your abstract directly in the abstract submission portal if it is saved as a draft. Any changes to a submitted abstract must to be emailed to conference@aacb.asn.au prior to the abstract submission deadline, as you cannot edit directly in the portal once the status is submitted.
